Queen Elizabeth National Park is approximately 376kms away from Kampala and sits on 1978sq.km of land area in Western Uganda. This is one of the best Uganda safari parks to see the big mammals like elephants, buffaloes, lions plus the tree-climbing lions, leopards; over 620 bird species; 10 primates, etc. Lake Mburo National Park (LMNP) sits in Western Uganda, Kiruhura district and it is home to zebras, impalas, elands, lions, giraffes, etc. It is the most accessible park from Kampala of the 10 Uganda National Parks.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the best destinations that make up the South-western safari circuit in Uganda, sitting on an area of 331sq.km and largely comprised of a tropical rainforest. The park is mostly explored for Mountain gorilla trekking – being a home to over 459 of the 1063 world’s mountain gorilla population.

While in Bwindi, trekking with mountain gorillas commences from Ruhija, Buhoma, Nkuringo, and Rushaga-the 4 main trailheads or gorilla trekking regions found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Detailed Itinerary – 6 Days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Kampala-Queen Elizabeth National Park for big game tour

6 days Uganda safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) begins with early breakfast back at the hotel facility in Kampala. After which, get briefed and later, transfer to the Western circuit of Uganda where Queen Elizabeth N/P a home to tree-climbing lions is situated. This will likely take you 5-6 hours’ drive but comes with scenic views of the countryside, vast tea farms, and get to the lodge at the park for lunch.

After a leisurely afternoon lunch, vacate the lodge for an exciting big game drive along the Kasenyi plains-mainly characterized by savanna plains.

This area of Queen Elizabeth National Park is famous for its incredible sightings of elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, birds, lions, etc. A relaxed dinner and overnight stay be had afterward at the booked Game safari lodge.

Day 2: A guided game drive & afternoon Kazinga launch trip

Begin a normal morning guided game drive after breakfast and this will be on Kasenyi plains. Expect to come across more species of wildlife than you spotted on day 1 during the afternoon big game tour but most importantly, lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, antelopes, birds, etc. This is expected to cover 2-4 hours and after, head back to the booked lodge-enjoy lunch.

Today, your Uganda Safari in QENP includes an afternoon boat cruise along Kazinga Channel-estimated to cover 2-3 hours. Here, you will be watching basking crocodiles, hippos, birds, waterbucks, etc, and head back to the lodge to chill.

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi drive via Ishasha, see tree climbing lions

Breakfast early and after, assemble at Kalinzu Forest Reserve for briefing before setting off for an actual chimpanzee tracking adventure. Enjoy a magical chimp encounter, other primates, birds, and walk back prepared to drive to Bwindi. A trip from Kalinzu Forest to Bwindi takes you via the Ishasha area-enjoy the sight of the tree-climbing lions and then proceed to have lunch at Savanna Resort.

After a lunch break at Savanna Resort, go check into the accommodation that you booked at Bwindi. Bwindi N/P is a 3-4 hours’ drive off Queen Elizabeth and it is a host to 20 habituated families of mountain gorillas plus 4 Gorilla trekking sectors.

Prepare early, have a cup of tea/coffee, and after, assemble at Buhoma area or any of Bwindi trekking sectors to be briefed. Before vacating the lodge, have some packed lunch and adequate water to drink since this is expected to take 2-6 hours.

An experienced park guide will lead you through, interpret the unique behaviors of mountain gorillas during the 1 hour of magical encounter, and then be escorted back to where you set off from. The 4th day of the 6 days Uganda safari also covers Batwa pygmy visit later in the afternoon/evening then later, retire for the night.

Vacate Bwindi National Park for Lake Mburo N/Park, about 6-7 hours’ drive via Mbarara. Have lunch on arrival at accommodation in LMNP and then later, go for a guided boat cruise on Lake Mburo to waterbucks, hippos, crocodiles, birds, etc. Get back to chill with your colleagues at the lodge and if time allows, go tour the Salt Lick Wooden platform.

Day 6: Driver guided game drive & depart for Kampala

A cup of tea or coffee in any of Lake Mburo’s lodge and later, go enjoy the best of guided game drive for 2-3 hours. This will have you exposed to Lake Mburo N/Park’s wildlife species such as oribis, elands, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, birds, impalas, etc. After 2-3 hours of the game expedition, drive back to have lunch then drop off to Kampala/Entebbe but have a stopover at the Equator to take pictures.
