8 Days gorilla safari in Rwanda and Uganda taking you for double gorilla trekking in both Volcanoes and Bwindi national park plus wildlife viewing in Queen Elizabeth. This tour starts and ends in Kigali crossing to Uganda via the Cyanika border.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On arrival at the Airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative who will brief you about your Rwanda Safari. After the briefing, you will be transferred to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri which is a 3 hours drive from the city center. Upon arrival, you will check in into your lodge and then take a short optional community tour around Ruhengeri for a good cultural experience of a true Rwandese culture. Dinner and overnight stay at Kinigi Guest House (Budget)/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Mid range) / Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury)
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Cultural walk
After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters to be briefed about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. On meeting the gorillas, you will be allowed a maximum of one hour to stay with the gorillas and later descend back for a cultural walk to the Banyarwanda person that gives an opportunity of enjoying their different cultural practices. Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu
After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive to Lake Kivu. Upon your arrival, you will have lunch which will be followed by an afternoon boat ride on Lake Kivu to the hot springs. Day 4: Transfer to Kigali for City Tour – Bwindi National Park
After breakfast, you will transfer back to Kigali. Upon arrival, you will have a city tour and visit the Genocide memorial grounds, local markets, museum, craft shops, do last minute shopping and later transfer have lunch and transfer to Bwindi national park reaching late evening. Day 5: Second Gorilla tracking in Uganda
Today you’ll experience what some people define a life changing event: meeting with the gentle giants of Bwindi! Expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. But it will definitely be worthwhile as you observe them closely while they eat, play and rest, a unique and unforgettable experience! Unfortunately, Mountain gorillas are one of the world’s most endangered species so the entrance and gorilla tracking fees revenue generated from tourism in protected parks such as Bwindi, offer them their only chance of survival. Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park
In the morning, you will set off to QENP passing via Ishasha sector where you will have game drives to view tree climbing lions, variety of bird species. Reach the park early enough for lunch. In the afternoon, gather at the Kazinga channel for a boat cruise along the channel where you will be rewarded with view of game as Hippos, crocodiles, buffalos, elephants as well as a variety of birds. Dinner and overnight at Budget: Kingfisher Lodge, Mid-range: Enganzi Lodge, Luxury: Mweya safari lodge.
Day 7: Game Drive & Launch Cruise
Today wake up early for your breakfast and then go for game drive with a rewarding opportunity to see wildlife such as Lions, Leopards, Giant Forest Hogs, Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Defassa Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Topis, Bush bucks and many more. Return to your lodge for lunch, enjoy the unique 2-hours launch cruise on Kazinga Channel. This trip will pass through possibly the highest concentration of Hippos and many animals that may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing
Day 8: Transfer Back to Kigali – City Tour – Departure
Wake Up early for your journey back to Kigali crossing to Rwanda via the Cyanika border reaching Rwanda in time for your departure flight. If you still have time you can go on a grand tour of Kigali city.
