Mountain gorilla baby boom in Uganda still continuous as Nyakagezi gorilla family group in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park also records new birth in 2020. The baby gorilla was born by an adult female gorilla Nshuti in Nyakagezi family and it was sighted on 2nd September 2020 thus increasing to group’s members from 8 to 9 now. Nshuti is one of the friendliest female gorillas in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, one of the best gorilla trekking safari destinations in Africa.

Nyakagezi group is the only habituated gorilla family tourists on Uganda gorilla safari can trek while on a holiday in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Gorilla treks usually start from Ntebeko gate and visitors require $700 to book for a gorilla permit if you are a foreign non-resident. The foreign residents pay $600 to reserve a gorilla trekking permit while East Africa community citizen pay Uganda shillings 250000.
About Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is nestled in Southwestern Uganda, Kisoro district approximately 8-10 hours’ drive from Kampala. The park sits in an area of 33.7sq.kms and shelters not only mountain gorillas but also several other wildlife plus bird species.
Aside from mountain gorillas, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park also protects golden monkeys, tourists on Uganda safari holiday can enjoy good sight of while on golden monkey tracking. There exist also golden cats, bush bucks, patas monkeys, baboons, buffaloes, black and white colobus monkeys and an estimate of 180 bird species. Some of the amazing birds to expect to identify here include white starred robin, Cape robin, Rwenzori Turaco, Rwenzori Batis, Western green tinker bird, Doherty’s bush shrike, rufous chested swallow, red necked spur fowl, pin tailed whydah to mention but a few.
