Kwita Izina – Rwanda Gorilla Naming Ceremony for September 2016

An official date has been set by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) for the 12th annually celebrated gorilla naming ceremony due to take place in Musanze province on the 2nd September 2016 in volcanoes national park rwanda home to Rwanda’s mountain gorilla population, which is the Rwandan section of the Virunga conservation region shared by Virunga national park of DR Congo and Mgahinga national park of Uganda.

The renown gorilla naming ceremony is cerebrated each year, to name all gorilla babies which have been produced in that year. With the theme -United in driving growth for conservation, the Kwita Izina is an evident milestone of the conservation efforts of Rwanda, a country which is progressively stabilizing ever since the 1994 genocide horror. Gorilla naming is a way the government aiming at popularizing gorilla tourism internationally so that the world knows about the great need to promote mountain gorilla conservation and sustainability through taking part in visiting gorillas in Africa deep in the jungles of central and east Africa.

For every visitor who takes part in gorilla trekking, revenue receipts are returned back into gorilla conservation.
