6 Days Uganda Safari
Overview
Discover the Western and Southwestern Safari Circuits of Uganda on a 6-day safari that is sure to be an unforgettable wildlife and gorilla trekking adventure. This 6-day safari in Uganda is designed by Silverback Gorilla Tour and includes wildlife watching and boat cruises in Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo National Parks as well as gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
Located in western Uganda, Queen Elizabeth National Park spans 1978 sq. km and is about 376 km from Kampala. Among the top safari parks in Uganda, you may observe a wide variety of wildlife, including 620 bird species, 10 primates, elephants, buffalo, lions (including tree-climbing lions and leopards), and many more. Animals such as zebras, impalas, elands, lions, giraffes, and more call Lake Mburo National Park (LMNP) in Western Uganda’s Kiruhura area home. The park is the easiest of the ten national parks in Uganda to reach from Kampala.
Among the top stops on the safari route in southwestern Uganda is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a tropical rainforest covering 331 square kilometers. Because it is home to more than 459 of the 1063 mountain gorillas in the world, the park is primarily visited by tourists interested in mountain gorilla trekking.
There are four primary trailheads or gorilla trekking regions in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: Ruhija, Buhoma, Nkuringo, and Rushaga. From these locations, visitors can go on mountain gorilla trekking adventures. Starting and ending in Kampala, your 6-day Uganda safari will take you to Lake Mburo, Bwindi, and Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Detailed Itinerary – 6 Days Uganda Safari
The first morning of your 6-day safari through Uganda will be spent having breakfast at your Kampala hotel. From there, you will travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP). Queen Elizabeth N/P, a sanctuary for tree-climbing lions, is located in western Uganda; after a briefing, you will transfer there. While the journey may take 5-6 hours, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the countryside, expansive tea plantations, and the opportunity to have lunch at the park’s lodge.
Get out of the resort after a relaxing lunch and into the Kasenyi plains, an area mostly made up of savanna, for a thrilling big game drive.
Amazing wildlife sightings—including lions, elephants, buffalo, antelopes, birds, and more—have made this section of Queen Elizabeth National Park famous. After that, arrive at the game safari lodge for a leisurely dinner and an overnight stay.
Budget options include: Enganzi Lodge, Bush Lodge (in the Tents), Mweya Hostels, Marafiki Safari Lodge, Ihamba Lodge, Twin Lake, Katara Lodge, and Mweya Safari Lodge.
Channel in Kazinga
The Kasenyi plains will be the setting for your morning guided wildlife drive, which will begin promptly following breakfast. During the afternoon big game trip, you may expect to see a wider variety of animals than on day 1, including lions, leopards, cape buffalo, antelopes, birds, and more. This should take around two to four hours, and then you can have lunch at the lodge you reserved.
An expected two to three hour boat ride along the Kazinga Channel is part of today’s Uganda Safari in QENP. After a relaxing afternoon of viewing crocodiles, hippos, birds, waterbucks, and more lazing in the sun, you can return to the resort.
Budget options include: Enganzi Lodge, Bush Lodge (in the Tents), Mweya Hostels, Marafiki Safari Lodge, Ihamba Lodge, Twin Lake, Katara Lodge, and Mweya Safari Lodge.
Before embarking on an exciting chimpanzee tracking trip, have breakfast early and gather at Kalinzu Forest Reserve for a briefing. Take in a mystical experience with chimpanzees, other monkeys, and birds before making your way back to be ready to drive to Bwindi. Lunch at Savanna Resort is on the agenda for the day as you make your way from Kalinzu Forest to Bwindi via the Ishasha area, where you can see tree-climbing lions in their natural habitat.
Make your way to the Bwindi hotel you reserved after enjoying lunch at Savanna Resort. Just three to four hours’ drive from Queen Elizabeth is Bwindi National Park, home to twenty habituated mountain gorilla families and four gorilla trekking sectors.
Gorilla Forest Camp/Mahogany Spring-(Upmarket/Luxury), Silverback Lodge/Gorilla Mist Camp-(Moderate), and Buhoma Community Bandas/Wagtail Eco-Safari Camp-(Basic)
Get yourself ready in the morning with a hot beverage, and then meet at the Buhoma area or one of the Bwindi trekking sectors for a briefing. Because this is going to take 2-6 hours, make sure you have enough water and food to last till you leave the resort. You will be escorted back to your starting point by a knowledgeable park guide who will accompany you through the spectacular encounter with the mountain gorillas, interpret their distinctive mannerisms, and more. The encounter will last for one hour. Day 4 of the 6-day Uganda safari includes a visit to the Batwa pygmy before sunset and a night of rest.
Gorilla Forest Camp/Mahogany Spring-(Upmarket/Luxury), Silverback Lodge/Gorilla Mist Camp-(Moderate), and Buhoma Community Bandas/Wagtail Eco-Safari Camp-(Basic)
It takes around six to seven hours to drive from Bwindi National Park to Lake Mburo National Park via Mbarara. After settling into your LMNP lodging, have lunch before setting off on a guided boat tour of Lake Mburo, where you may see waterbucks, hippos, crocodiles, birds, and more. Go back to the lodge to relax with your coworkers, and if time permits, take a tour of the Salt Lick Wooden Platform.
There are three types of accommodations available: the basic Rwonyo Campsite, the moderate Arcadia Cottages, and the luxury Montana Luxury Tented/Mihingo Lodge.
Have some coffee or tea at one of the lodges around Lake Mburo, and then spend two or three hours on an unforgettable guided wildlife drive. Because of this, you will get to see a variety of animals at Lake Mburo National Park, including oribis, elands, zebras, giraffes, buffalo, birds, impalas, and more. Return to Entebbe or Kampala for lunch after the wildlife trip, which should take about two to three hours. En route, stop at the Equator for some photo ops.
