Congo Gorilla Permit Cost

A Congo Gorilla Permit enables tourists to track mountain gorillas in Virunga National Park, one of only four national parks in the world where these endangered animals are still found. Virunga is located in the Albertine Rift Valley in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, and it shares mountain gorilla habitat with Uganda’s Mgahinga National Park and Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. 

Congo Gorilla Permit Prices are divided into two categories: gorilla tracking permits and gorilla habituation permits. The gorilla tracking ticket costs USD 400 per person per day and allows guests to spend an exciting hour with a gorilla family. The gorilla habituation permit costs USD 600 per person per day and includes up to four hours with the world’s largest primates. These costs represent outstanding value for money, making Congo the most economical gorilla trekking location in Africa. 

Congo gorilla permits can be acquired online from the Congolese Institute for Nature Conservation (ICCN), the government authority in charge of issuing permits and safeguarding animals in the DRC. The ICCN booking system clearly displays daily permit availability, letting travelers to choose and purchase their chosen trekking dates.  

The ICCN deserves special appreciation for its effective conservation efforts, which have resulted in a large increase in mountain gorilla populations. As a result, Virunga National Park currently has over eight habituated gorilla families available for tracking all year. This is a significant improvement over previous decades, when poaching and instability were big dangers to the park. 

Visitors must be at least 15 years old to obtain a Congo Gorilla Permit. This age limit is in place because Virunga National Park is a mountainous tropical rainforest and gorilla trekking necessitates a certain level of physical fitness. The terrain might be difficult and is not appropriate for young children.
