Detailed itinerary Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park Day one of the 7 days Rwanda gorilla and wildlife safari will be for you to travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park in the Southern side of Rwanda. But, first, you will have breakfast at the hotel or a warm welcome upon arrival at Kigali Airport. Expect to drive for 6 hours to Nyungwe from Kigali and check into the lodge for an overnight stay. Accommodations: Luxury: Nyungwe Forest Lodge, Midrange: Nyungwe Top View Hotel Basic: Gisakura Guesthouse Day 2: Chimpanzees tracking, canopy walk/birding/nature walk Have breakfast early morning, after, you will head to Cyamudongo or Uwinka reception for briefing about regulations for tracking chimpanzees. You will be accompanied by the park guide who knows which spots to find chimpanzees and expect to take 2-4 hours including one of face to face interaction. Other primates, birds, flora will be part of your 2-4 hours chimp tracking adventures as you will keep an eye on most of them. After, walk back to relax at the lodge and what follows will be an afternoon canopy walk for about 2 hours. The unique canopy walk experience lets you sight a variety of primates, birds and the beautiful canopy of Nyungwe Forest. En-route areas of interest will be Murambi memorial centre, King’s palace and arrive early at Lake Kivu for evening chilling at the shores. Arrive early, visit the Iby’Iwacu cultural village for authentic cultural experiences in the Rwandese communities. Get a quick briefing about measures/regulations to observe while tracking mountain gorillas. This is normally starts from 7:30am up to 8:00am when actual trek to see mountain gorilla families starts. Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park has 13 families of already habituated mountain gorillas and only one will be allocated to every group of 8 visitors. They are accompanied by the park guide at 8:00 am and upon finding them, you will only have one hour face to face with these humble giants. Return afterwards, chill from your lodge and later in the afternoon, go tour the Twin Lakes of Ruhondo and Burera. Today’s evening relaxation, dinner and night stay will be had at the previous accommodation.
