Whereas you can visit and trek Congo gorillas any time of the year, knowing the best time to visit i,e dry/peak season is an added advantage that make gorilla tracking in Congo magnificent. Like Uganda, Kenya, and Somalia, the country is among those countries in Africa where the equator passes and the largest part of the country is in the Southern Hemisphere, where Virunga National Park is found. Virunga National Park in Congo is visited all year round and each month gives a unique experience to others that make gorilla tracking awesome to other activities
However, visiting Congo to see mountain gorillas during dry season makes your gorilla tracking safari a memorable and rewarding experience. The dry season is in the months of December, January, and February and again in June, July, August, and September. Though this does not mean that it will not rain the entire months since the Park is a tropical rain forest and strategically in equator crossing country, it may and the experience within this time is adventurous.
Still, during these months, is the peak season when every traveler wants to visit the Park for their life experience and this is the time when gorilla permits is scarce. We highly advise our guests to book their gorilla permit at least 4 months in advance to have their lifetime experience in Congo-Virunga National Park.
Visiting Congo for gorilla tracking in the low season falls in the months of March, April, May, October, and November. This is the month when rainfall tends to be slightly much and it does not stop you from encountering this magical experience. in fact, it’s more adventurous during this time.
