The Batwa people, who reside in the area immediately surrounding Bwindi, were the park’s forest guardians prior to its official gazetted status in 1991.  

Unique among national parks is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi, in southwestern Uganda, is a World Heritage Site according to UNESCO. Located between 1,160 and 2,607 meters in altitude, it is home to 459 of the 1063 mountain gorillas who are still alive today.

Detailed Itinerary – 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Flying Safari:

Day 1: Entebbe Airport-Kisoro/Kihihi Airstrip

Get on a plane to Kisoro or Kihihi airstrip from your accommodation in Entebbe or Kampala, the capital of Uganda, by departing from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi airport. Get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park early to meet your driver/guide and transfer to the lodge, where you can see 20 habituated gorilla families in their natural habitat. You will have the opportunity to visit the Batwa pygmies in the nearby areas since your flight is scheduled for early morning. Read up on their long history of subsistence in the woods, including their hunting and gathering practices, etc.

Day 2: Guided gorilla trek Bwindi- flying in a gorilla trekking safari

After a hearty meal in the morning, you’ll be taken to the park headquarters. Join other current customers in gathering suggestions on gorilla tracking protocols by signing up. Join a park ranger on an adventure into the jungle at 8:00 in the morning in search of mountain gorillas. You can spend a few hours trekking to get to the gorillas, but you’re only allowed an hour with them.  
 
The authorities of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park will issue you a gorilla trekking certificate upon your return. The next day, after a long gorilla trekking adventure, you can relax at the lodge and share stories with other guests.

Day 3: Flying Uganda gorilla safari to Entebbe from Kisoro/Kihihi

After breakfast, you will meet your driver at the resort. After you check out, you will be driven to the airport in Kihihi or Kisoro. Return flights to Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi airport are available from Kisoro/Kihihi.

Detailed Itinerary – 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Flying Safari Day 1: Entebbe Airport-Kisoro/Kihihi Airstrip Leave the hotel in Entebbe city or Kampala capital for Entebbe International Airport/Kajjansi airfield for a flight to Kisoro/Kihihi airstrip. Arrive early and meet your driver guide for transfer to the lodge at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where 20 habituated gorilla families all live. Since your flight will be done early morning, you will visit the Batwa pygmies in the adjacent local communities. Explore more on how they lived in the forest for thousands of years, their ancient hunting and gathering techniques, etc. Accommodation

  Day 2: Guided gorilla trek Bwindi- flying in a gorilla trekking safari You will be served with an early morning heavy breakfast, after which you will transfer to the park headquarters. Register and assemble together with other present clients for the advice on the guidelines of gorilla tracking.  At 8:00 am, start your adventure into the wild to see mountain gorillas with a park guide leading. Depending on the location of the gorillas, you can spend several hours trekking, but only one hour is allowed with the gorillas You will return to be given a gorilla trekking certificate at the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offices.
