Very early at 4:00 am, the driver guide from Silverback Gorilla Tour will pick you from either Kigali airport or your hotel or any agreed point in Kigali. After the meet and greet, embark on a 3 hours drive northwards, headed to Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered gorillas. Assemble at Kinigi park headquarters, where you will be served a cup of coffee.
Register with the park wardens who will brief you on the rules and regulations of mountain gorilla trekking. In your groups of eight, set off on the hike into the bamboo forest searching for the allocated gorilla family. The search for gorillas starts at 8:00 am, and the actual time to spend in the jungle is not certain but ranges between 30 minutes to over 6 hours.However, the allowed time with gorillas is strictly an hour from the moment you meet them. Be careful and enjoy every moment of this magical encounter. On a good day, you may see other wild animals that live in Volcanoes National Park. After breakfast or on your arrival at Kigali International Airport (KGL), meet your driver guide for a briefing about the 2 days Uganda gorilla safari. Begin driving to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park early, cross via Chanika or Katuna border to Buhoma sector in the North. Kigali to Bwindi National Park in Kabale, Southwestern Uganda, is a 3-4 hours’ drive in a comfortable 4×4 vehicle.
After an enjoyable breakfast early morning, assemble at Buhoma offices where you are briefed on the general guidelines of gorilla tracking. Briefing starts at 7:00 am for an hour and the gorilla trek begins at 8:00 am starting at 7:00 am.
