This 3-day Rwanda gorillas and Golden monkey trekking tour is an exceptional package bringing you close to Rwanda’s iconic primates which are the endangered gorillas and golden monkeys.  Enjoy a close encounter with one of the 10 habituated gorilla families and a group  of golden monkeys  in Volcanoes National park

Volcanoes National park is the most visited tourist destination by travelers on Rwanda safaris.  The park is home to over 450 mountain gorillas, which is the highest population in the Virunga Conservation Area.  Each gorilla permit in Rwanda costs $1500, which makes Rwanda a luxury gorilla tour destination compared to $800 in Uganda and $450 in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In addition to primates, the 3-day Rwanda gorilla safari entails visiting the Gorilla Guardian Village (Iby’iwacu cultural Centre) to learn and experience the traditions, norms, beliefs and customs.  While at Iby’iwacu cultural village, you will take part in different cultural practices such as dances, songs, brewing local alcohol and preparing local foods. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up, city tour & transfer to Volcanoes national park

On arrival, the driver guide representing Silverback Gorilla Tour will  be waiting for you. Meet, greet and go for a city  tour in Kigali which is Africa’s finest city. Visit different tourism sites such as Gisozi genocide memorial, Kigali genocide memorial center, Kimironko market and the Inema Art Gallery, among others.  Have lunch in the city center and there after  drive north westwards to Volcanoes National Park home to the endangered gorillas and golden monkeys. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura Hotel(basic)/La Palme Hotel(deluxe)/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge(Luxury).

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and cultural walk.

After early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Kinigi  park headquarters for a briefing about the dos and don’ts with the gorillas. You will then be allocated the gorilla tracking group together with seven other travelers. At 8:00am, start the actual trek begins lasting for between 30 minutes to over 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas and the speed of the slowest person in the group.

The allowed time with the gorillas is strictly an hour from the time you meet them.  You may encounter other wild animals such as African Elephants, golden monkeys, Red tailed monkeys,  Black and white colobus, among others during your search for the gorillas.

Return to the lodge for refreshment and in the evening, go for a cultural tour to the Iby’iwacu cultural village for a cultural performance. The cultural tour introduces you to the traditions, norms and customs of the Rwandan people.

Day 3: Golden Monkey tracking and Departure

After early morning breakfast, gather at the park headquarters for the briefing before ascending the forest for golden monkey tracking. its with no doubt that an encounter with the playful and lively golden monkeys is an experience you will live to remember.   You will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence, learning and enjoying their social behaviors. Later on, transfer to Kigali for your departure flight at Kigali International Airport
