With this 4-day deal, you may view the unique Nyakagyezi gorilla family in their natural habitat, the pinnacle of gorilla trekking in Uganda. On the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congoyou’ll find the 3634-meter Sabyinyo Volcano, which you may climb for a fun and rewarding trip. The Nyakagezi gorilla group is the sole habituated gorilla family at the gorilla park in the Virunga Region. In a party of eight, you will go on a genuine gorilla trekking adventure to see the Nyakagezi gorilla family. Out of the ten national parks overseen by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, Mgahinga is the smallest.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1:Pick up from Kampala and transfer to Mgahinga

Begin your 4-day gorilla Sabyinyo Volcano trekking safari to Mgahinga National Park with a hearty breakfast at your accommodation in Kampala or Entebbe, the capital of Uganda. Afterwards, meet your safari guide for a briefing. About 8 to 9 hours of driving is required, ideally in a 4×4 safari vehicle. One of the highlights of the journey will be a stop at the Uganda Equator crossing, where you may take pictures and even conduct a water experiment. You will be provided with lunch at one of the hotels in Mbarara city before heading to Kisoro, Southwestern Uganda’s Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Staying the night at the lodge for dinner 

Day 2: Nyakagezi gorilla trekking- Mgahinga

Starting your day with an early breakfast, you will go to the Ntebeko gate of Mgahinga National Park to learn about the rules for gorilla tracking. This is part of the Nyakagezi gorilla hiking in Mgahinga. Bring a packed lunch and a bottle of water to the training center. Then, at 8:00 am, after being given a Mgahinga Gorilla National Park guide, go look for mountain gorillas. It takes between 2 and 6 hours to track the Nyakagezi group, which includes an hour for a face-to-face meeting. You will then have to walk back to get your gorilla trekking certificate. In the evening, you will go on a culture safari to see the Batwa pygmies. You will be led through this by a Batwa guide who will talk about the Batwa’s culture, beliefs, ways of life, practices, and more. Spend the night at the lodge. 

Day 3: Hiking Sabyinyo Volcanoes-Mgahinga National Park

Meet your park guide for a briefing regarding your Mount Sabyinyo hiking safari after you have a cup of coffee or tea. Then, depart from the lodge. Depart from the Ntebeko briefing center with a lunch pack and water bottles for the actual climb to the summits of Mount Sabyinyo. The three summits of Mount Sabyinyo, the highest of which is located at 3421 meters, can be reached in a seven- to ten-hour round-trip climb. Return to Ntebeko, the site of your briefing, and then make your way to the lodge for dinner, relaxation, and the night. Spend the night in the lodge after supper. 

Day 4: Departure

Get up early, eat food, and then meet a driver helper from Uganda. They will drive you back to Kampala. On the way to Kampala, stop at the Igongo Cultural Center for lunch. After that, keep going to a hotel in Kampala city.

  Detailed Itinerary Day 1:Pick up from Kampala and transfer to Mgahinga Enjoy a heavy breakfast at the hotel in Kampala capital or Entebbe city, and after, meet your Uganda safari guide for a briefing on your 4-day gorilla Sabyinyo Volcano hiking safari to Mgahinga National Park. Driving time- about 8-9 hours and preferably in a 4×4 safari vehicle. En-route attractions include the Uganda Equator crossing, where a stopover will be made for photo taking and for you to perform a water experiment. In Mbarara city, lunch will be offered to you at any of the hotels, and then you proceed to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Kisoro, Southwestern Uganda. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge Day 2: Nyakagezi gorilla trekking- Mgahinga Nyakagezi gorilla trekking in Mgahinga: Begin your day with an early breakfast and after, leave the lodge for a briefing on gorilla tracking rules at the Ntebeko gate of Mgahinga National Park. Report to the briefing center with a packed lunch and bottled drinking water, then at 8:00 am after being assigned to a Mgahinga Gorilla National Park guide, go search for mountain gorillas. Tracking Nyakagezi group takes 2-6 hours, including 1 hour that is meant for a face-to-face encounter. After, walk back to be given the gorilla trekking certificate and in the evening, visit the Batwa pygmies during the cultural safari. This will be conducted with a Batwa guide leading you through while explaining how the Batwa lived in the forest, cultures, traditions, practices, and more. Return to the lodge for the night Day 3: Hiking Sabyinyo Volcanoes-Mgahinga National Park After a cup of coffee or tea, leave the lodge to meet the park guide for briefing about your Mount Sabyinyo hiking safari. With a pack of lunch and bottled, leave Ntebeko briefing center for actual trek to conquer the summits of Mount Sabyinyo. This will be a 7-10 hours’ round hike to Sabyinyo peaks- 3 peaks are found on Mount Sabyinyo with the first found at 3421m. Descend back to Ntebeko where you were briefed, transfer to the lodge to relax and dine then spend a night. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge Day 4: Departure Wake up early, have breakfast and then meet a Uganda driver guide who will drive you back to Kampala.
