Volcanoes National Park in north-western Rwanda is a 160-square kilometer Park, just about 2-3 hours’ drive from the capital. It shelters about 35% of the World’s total surviving wild mountain gorillas with about 12 gorilla groups already habituated for treks by only 96 visitors each single day.
In addition to the mountain gorillas, the 4 Days Rwanda double gorilla trekking safari is a chance to see other wild animals such as golden monkeys, African Buffalos , black and white colobus monkeys, golden monkeys, vervet monkeys, spotted hyenas, duikers, baboons, forest buffaloes, giant forest hogs and several bird species

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival, Pick up & Transfer to Volcanoes National park
Our expert gorilla safari guide will welcome and pick you up for the transfer to Volcanoes National Park for the gorilla trekking adventure. Drive north wards enjoying the scenic views of a Thousand Hills of Rwanda as you head to the gorilla park

Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking adventure and visit to Gorilla Guardian Village
After a wonderfully prepared and served breakfast at your place of stay, you will either walk or be driven (depending on location of the Lodge) to the Park Headquarters for the mandatory pre-tracking briefing by Park guides and this usually begins at 7:00am. This is then followed by the 20-30 minutes’ transfer to the trailheads at the Park boundary then start actual treks.
Given the mobile nature of mountain gorillas, trekking time is quite unpredictable but is anywhere between 1-5 hours before the allocated gorilla group is found. The allotted observation/photography time is strictly one hour and therefore make good use of it to ask as many gorilla-related questions as possible before returning back to the Lodge.
In the evening (after lunch and rest) get the chance to tour the Gorilla Guardian Village where ancient cultural ways of Rwandans will be uncovered. Learn a lot during this short tour where local banana beer will be brewed, traditional dishes prepared, watch traditional dance performances and also listen to folklore told by some of the village elders.

Day 3: Second Gorilla Trek and tour of the Twin Lakes
Today, you will visit another gorilla family to learn more about these endangered species. The second gorilla trekking adventure will be conducted just like on the previous day. Spend an hour in the presence of gorillas learning about their social behaviors and lifestyles. Later in the day, visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera where you will enjoy the boat ride and scenic viewing

Day 4: Drive back to the City for a tour and departure
Leave for Kigali City after breakfast at the Lodge and undertake an elaborate City excursion on arrival. The Tour will include visiting magnificent historical and cultural sites such as Genocide memorial sites, Art and Craft Markets, local markets and the Kigali Presidential Palace among others. This marks the end of the 4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda.
