Detailed Itinerary: 7 Days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Entebbe/Kampala-Murchison Falls National Park

After having a delicious breakfast, pick up at the hotel and you will be transferred to Murchison Falls National Park (MFNP). Access to MFNP will be on the Kampala-Gulu highway, expecting to spend 6-7 hours which includes rhino trekking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route. From Ziwa, go for lunch at the hotel in Masindi or the nearby lodge at the sanctuary and you will head off to the top of the falls before you check in at the lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Full-day wildlife tour in Murchison Falls National Park

Start exploring the Northern section of MFNP in a 4×4 safari vehicle. This region has diverse animals and you will clearly view them, especially warthogs, the Rothschild giraffes, bush elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, oribis, hartebeests, and others. The morning game drive with an experienced park guide and in a 4×4 tourist vehicle lasts for 2-3 hours and lunch will be enjoyed at the lodge.

In the afternoon, you will meet the guide for a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile River to the bottom of Murchison Falls. The 2-3 hours recreational excursion allows you to spot most of the Park’s aquatic life including hippos, crocodiles, and birds. The rest of the evening when you get back will be just for chilling and sharing memories of the day.

Day 3: Murchison Falls Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After having breakfast, leave Murchison Falls National Park, and a long road trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is the second largest park after Murchison Falls NP and it is most popular for the unique tree-climbing lions. Arrive early and enjoy late lunch, relaxation, and overnight in the pre-booked lodge.

Day 4: Game drive and Kazinga boat cruise excursion

Queen Elizabeth National Park morning game drive kick starts early taking between 2 and 3 hours. Explore the huge profusion of wildlife along Kasenyi Plains in a 4×4 tourist vehicle with a pop-up roof. This sector allows you to see amazing animals including the cape buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, antelope families, and a myriad of bird species.

An afternoon boat cruise leads you along Kazinga Channel taking 2-3 hours of viewing aquatic life. The long boat excursion lets you sight hippos, crocodiles, and water birds including skimmers, bee-eaters, pelicans, and more.

Day 5: Bwindi N. Park via Ishasha sector

Enjoy a hefty breakfast and after, you will be leaving Queen Elizabeth NP for Bwindi NP but make a stopover at the Ishasha to see the tree-climbing lions. Have a relaxed evening at the lodge inside Bwindi or nearby the park.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking while in Bwindi Forest

Leave the lodge when prepared for a long gorilla trek in Bwindi National Park. A briefing will be conducted at the park offices by the official and a single gorilla family will be allocated to you. This park has 20 habituated gorilla groups and each is allocated to a maximum of 8 visitors.

2 Days Gorilla Trek Uganda

Today’s 2-6 hours gorilla trek encompasses one hour of a close encounter and photography. After the trek, return and relax then continue for the Batwa cultural encounter.

Day 7: Departure

Enjoy a hefty breakfast and after, you will check out of the lodge. Start driving back to Kampala/Entebbe for 8-9 hours and en route, your driver guide will stop over at the Equator crossing for photography and leg stretching.
